WILMCOTE secured a 230-223 victory at Home Guard as the Stratford & District Airgun League action continued.

The visitors took an early lead and pressed home their advantage as they hit only bulls and fours.

Jamie Clarke shot his second possible of the season and Lester Langford missed just one bull for 34 points. Three of the remaining shooters hit 33s as the team got the highest score for the second week running with 230.

Home Guard shot valiantly as Tom Morris, Andy Morris and Alan Brookes all missed out on a possible by one point, but it was not enough.

Hosts Avon had six shooters for their match against Binton A and started with two solid scores of 30 and 33 from Bill Fleming and Alison McMillan.

Binton’s first shooter was unlucky to have a missed shot and he ended on a low score, but Andy Smith shot a possible to keep the team in the match.

Avon shot steadily, hanging on to a narrow lead until the last man, but Binton kept their shots tight, hitting only fours and bulls.

With seven shooters, they won the match 211-209.

Binton B against Avenue proved to be a very close match as first visitors Avenue took the lead before losing it to the home team.

Then, in the final stages, Avenue snatched victory by one point.

Binton’s top shots were Steve Hodges 32 and Chris Green 31. Avenue’s top shots were Steve Parrack who just missed out on a possible with six out of seven bulls and James Wilby who shot 33.

MEB, who are still looking for new team members, started well at home to Clifford with 32 from Paul Onions but, with some threes on the target plate, their next three shooters were unable to hit scores in the 30s.

Last man Derek Powers stayed out of the threes for a score of 30. With two A N Other scores, they finished on 194 points.

Clifford hit mainly fours but Jay Morris hit four bulls for 32 and Trevor Morris and Matt Carvell both shot 30 as they won the match with 203 points.
