Jackson ready for Snetterton test

AFTER a five-week mid-season break, Airwaves Racing driver Mat Jackson will be back behind the wheel of his Ford Focus ST this weekend (August 2/3) as the British Touring Car Championship resumes with rounds 16, 17 and 18 taking place at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk, writes Andy Parsons.

During the down time the teams and drivers have been busy analysing the data they have recorded during the first half of the season as well as taking the opportunity to freshen up the cars and straighten out some of the dings and dents.

Airwaves Racing are no exception to this and they too have been engaged in an intensive development programme at their Kent workshops to try and make sure their two drivers have the best possible chance of achieving podiums and points over the second half of the season.

Both the Airwaves drivers are raring to go and for Henley-in-Arden’s Jackson this is a special weekend as the second race on Sunday will be Jackson’s 250th BTCC outing.

An excited Jackson said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back out there after the summer break. Hopefully the car is on the button from the word go in FP1. I think that the Snetterton layout will suit the Focus and we can keep ourselves in the race for the championship.

“We’ve had some great results here in the past. The Focus made its debut here in 2012 which was the first time that Motorbase became a constructor and it was fantastic to be part of that.

“Hopefully we can add to those successes on Sunday. Points, points and more points is the plan for this weekend. We need to be consistently at the front in order to keep the championship in sight and that is what I will be pushing for as the second half of the season commences.”

Snetterton never fails to deliver on action and excitement and this weekend should be no different and if you are unable to get there you can always catch the action live on ITV4.
