STRATFORD Cycling Club’s youth section celebrated amazing results at the end of the BWA West Midlands cyclo-cross season as a record number of club members competed in the league.

With the best eight results out of the 11 rounds counting, eight-year-old Spencer Corder had a storming season, finishing in second place in a very competitive U10 boys class, whilst newcomer to cyclo-cross Jake Deaner finished third in the U8 boys.

Other SCC riders who competed are Tamsin Moss and Olivia Taylor in the U6 girls, Ruben Stringfellow in the U6 boys and Callum Moss, Alex Taylor and Reuben Phillips in the U8 boys.

Harriet Tinsley, Jessica Macroft and Ava Piper competed in the U10 girls and Lewis Tinsley, Joe Gregg, Alex Burden, Joe Chandler, Guy West, Robert Martin and Hunter Binks were in action for the U10 boys.

Bethany Ellis raced in the U12 girls, Harvey Jackson, Tom Charles, Freddie Jones, Baden Green, Atom Gill and Liam Divanis competed in the U12 boys and David Hird, Joshua Graham, Finlay Gray, Conor Murphy and George Divanis raced in the U14 boys. John Chesney was in action for the U16 boys.

The club also presented mini cyclo-cross awards at their recent Christmas party and awards night.

First place for overall league points for boys went to Spencer Corder, second was Jake Deaner and third Lewis Tinsley.

The club also awards two Endeavour Awards at the end of each term. These awards are chosen by the coaches and given to riders who they believe have worked really hard, who regularly attend weekly coaching sessions and constantly strive to improve their riding and racing skills.

These awards were given to two worthy winners. The early coaching class award went to eight-year-old Joe Gregg and the later coaching class award went to 12-year-old Finlay Gray.

John Chesney (U16) was handed the Most Improved Youth Rider of the Year award and David Hird (U14) was presented with the Robert Heenan Award.
