Get on your bike and support a fine cause

Stratford Editorial 14th May, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE SHAKESPEARE Hospice is welcoming entries for its Great Shakespeare Ride on Sunday, August 17.

The ride starts at Stratford Manor Hotel in Stratford at 9am and offers riders the option of two distances – a challenging 100km and a sportive 100 miles.

These incorporate a number of climbs to really put your legs to the test. Each route has fantastic support from volunteers and event organisers and includes refreshment stops on the way.

The courses have been specially designed to ensure the Great Shakespeare Ride gives participants a fantastic day out on their bikes in the heart of the beautiful Warwickshire and Cotswolds countryside.

Riders must be over 14-years-old, with entry costing £26 for the 100km route and £28 for the 100 miles.

New for 2014 is The 40 Miler – a shorter, flatter route than the sportive and challenge rides – with masses of support to help give riders the confidence to come along and take part. If you would like to experience the sense of achievement from taking part in a mass sporting event, this is for you.

Over 800 cyclists took part last year, including locals and riders from as far afield as Ireland. The event raised more than £35,000 for the care of local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. With even more cyclists expected this year, sign up now to secure your place.

Taylor Wimpey are the main sponsors for the Great Shakespeare Ride and the hospice is thrilled to have the support of many other local companies.
