Cyclo-cross riders tackle muddy conditions

MALLORY Park in Leicestershire was the venue for the latest round of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League and the event featured numerous Stratford Cycling Club members.

Normally racing at this venue is on tarmac roads but this time it was off the tarmac and into the mud.

However, this did not concern the Stratford club’s youth riders who seem to be able to cope with any conditions.

The Moss family again showed what it is all about as Tamsin triumphed again in the under six race and brother Callum rose up the standings to third in the under eights. Ruben Stringfellow was seventh.

In the under ten race the club had six riders and it was a repeat of first and second places for Spencer Corder and Lewis Tinsley, followed by Joe Chandler in 14th and Alex Burden in 16th.

Harriet Tinsley was placed ninth in the under ten girls’ section and Jessica Marcroft 11th, whilst in the under 12s race Annabel was the eighth girl home.

In the under 14 race the improving David Hird was fourth, Connor Murphy 13th, Thomas Charles 18th and Freddie Jones 23rd, whilst the under 16 race saw John Chesney finish ninth.

Just two Stratford seniors competed on the day and Ian Tinsley found the going a bit tougher than the previous week as he finished seventh, whilst David Pugh was 17th in the under 45s race.
