VALE Country Park hosted the latest round of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League and what a spectacle it turned out to be for Stratford Cycling Club members.

Ian Tinsley put in his best ride of the series to finish second in the senior race, which was a big improvement on the previous ten rounds when his best had been tenth.

His son Lewis was also second in the youth under ten race in which again it was Spencer Corder who came home the winner for the ninth time this season, whilst Ava Piper was fifth in the girls’ section.

Some weeks as many as 60 young hopefuls are in action and on this occasion it was a very muddy bunch who made it to the finish.

Tamsin Moss was again a clear winner in the under six section as Stratford showed what a great bunch of cyclo-cross stars the club has.

Her brother Calum Moss was fifth in the under eight race, followed home by Ruben Stringfellow in eighth place.

It was great to see John Chesney finish in seventh place in the under 16 race, followed home by five more Stratford riders.

Nigel Jones was sixth in the veterans under 50 race and Nigel Gardner fifth in the under 23 race.

Other SCC results: Under tens – Alexander Burden 12th; Jake Deaner 15th; Joseph Gregg 17th; Joe Chandler 20th; Harriet Tinsley 22nd; Jake Gray 24th; Jessica Marcroft 28th; Alex Taylor 29th.
