Chesney rises to the challenge

Stratford Editorial 5th Nov, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

UNDER 15 rider John Chesney continued his consistent cyclo-cross performances with a fourth placed finish at Welland Valley.

The Stratford Cycling Club youngster has to compete with under 16 riders but is unfazed by the challenge and looks set to record even better results when he remains in the under 16 category next year.

His club-mate David Hird finished in ninth place.

This event also saw Lewis Tinsley record his first win of the season in a close under tens race in which he was just four seconds ahead of his main rival.

He was followed home by Alexander Burden (12th) and Joseph Gregg (13th).

Spencer Corder had a week off but the rules of this 14-race series take into account only the best ten rides in the series.

The Moss family are very keen competitors and, with Tamsin again winning the under six race and Callum finishing third in the under eights, the podium finishes just keep coming.

In the under 12 section Annabel Jones was 31st and Guy West 37th.

At senior level Nigel Jones is in ninth place overall in the under 50s section and David Pugh – the top senior rider – is in 22nd place.

Not to be outdone, Teresa Lewis continues to enjoy her cyclo-cross and is in sixth place in the under 45s ladies’ section.

Full results: Under six – Tamsin Moss, 1st.

Under eights – Callum Moss, 3rd; Ruben Stringfellow, 8th.

Under tens – Lewis Tinsley, 1st; Alexander Burden, 12th; Joseph Gregg, 13th; Ava Piper, 22nd; Alex Taylor, 30th (6th girl); Jessica Marcroft, 39th.
