YOUNGSTERS took centre stage at Bidford Tennis Club when they enjoyed their junior tournaments over a long weekend.

The under 16 boys’ match between Adam Farrow and Alfie Lovell took two hours to complete on the Friday evening and Farrow was the eventual winner of a tight match to be awarded the Warner’s Budgens Shield.

The under 12s tournament, played on the Sunday morning, was won by Alex Beach and runner-up was Michael McDermott. Beach received the Bidford Garage Shield.

This was followed by the under eights tournament, organised as a round-robin by club coaches James Marsh and Madeleine Golby.

This was held on the Sunday afternoon and the winner was Reeve Carter, with Alexander Golby runner-up. Carter was presented with the Dewsbury Shield.

Other trophies were awarded as Austin Jackson received the ‘Best Shot’ of the afternoon trophy and Maddy Snow was awarded The Gary Mayrick Cup for Most Promising Young Player.
