THERE was no horsing around as royalty opened Warwickshire College’s new state-of-the-art equestrian centre at Moreton Morrell.
Zara Phillips visited the new Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre, offering the only water treadmill in the UK to help with rehabilitation from injuries, a hydrotherapy spa, treatment bays and new stables.
The Queen’s granddaughter was at the college to compete in the two-day British Eventing Spring Horse Trials – a competition combining dressage, show-jumping and cross country competition.
Zara said: “We all love our horses and are always striving to keep them healthy for as long as possible and this centre is a fantastic place to be able to do that. Moreton Morrell students are hugely lucky to be able to work with these amazing facilities.”
Assistant Principal for Land-based Studies at Warwickshire College Marcus Roberts said: “The centre provides our students with state-of-the-art equipment for their studies, and they will get commercial experience from running the centre – working with clients, vets and owners, as well as handling the horses on the equipment. We will also be able to undertake more research using the facilities, which is vital for students on our higher education courses.
“As the centre is also available for local vets and owners to hire, we are providing excellent equine therapy facilities to the local community.”
