A TWO car crash in Alderminster left one woman dead and another needing emergency treatment after she was trapped in the wreckage for more than an hour.

The crash happened on the A3400 near Ettington Park Hotel around 8.30pm on Saturday (June 7).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The driver of one car, a woman, was sadly confirmed deceased on scene.

“The driver of the second car, a woman believed to be in her 20s, was significantly trapped in the wreckage. Upon initial assessment, medics found she had sustained multiple traumatic injuries including a head injury. Whilst ambulance staff and medics administered vital emergency treatment to the woman to help stabilise her condition, the fire service worked around the team to carefully cut the woman out of the car.

“After more than an hour, the woman was released and medics were able to fully immobilise her with a neck collar, spinal board, pelvic, arm and leg splints as well as deliver further drug therapy before she was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment. Medics travelled in the ambulance to hospital to continue pre-hospital treatment en route.

The woman was understood to be in a “stable condition” on arrival at A&E.
