VOLUNTEERS have bagged nearly £1,000 for Stratford Hospital’s Cancer and Eye Appeal.

Over the bank holiday weekend volunteers packed bags for shoppers at Marks and Spencer in the Maybird Shopping Centre, in return for donations to the appeal.

The money raised will help make the hospital’s cancer and eye treatment areas more comfortable.

Hospital fund-raising manager Ali Gray said: “I am really pleased we were able to talk to so many local residents that will benefit from the new hospital.

“I would like to thank all of the volunteers that helped out during the weekend. We will be organising many more fund-raising activities like this and if anyone would like to get involved please get in touch.”

* The appeal was also boosted by a £1,000 donation, along with a number of t-shirts and high-visibility jackets with details of the appeal printed on them, from recruitment company. Perfect Personnel.
