Stratfordians urged to send dogs a Christmas treat

SANTA paws is hoping to have more than a doggy bag full of festive treats to deliver in the district.

Stratford District Council dog warden Lisa Parkes has organised an appeal to support dogs that find themselves in rescue centres over the festive period.

Anyone who wants to donate can fill a shoebox with doggy delights – including food, toys, treats, balls and collars – and bring it to the council’s Elizabeth House HQ during office hours until Monday (December 15).

The shoeboxes will then be distributed to local rescue centres in time for Christmas.

Lisa has also set up a ‘Canine Christmas Countdown’ feature on the Stratford District Council Dog Warden Facebook page where residents can see all the dogs currently awaiting adoption at local rescue centres.

Encouraging residents to back the appeal, she said: “Please find it in your hearts to support us and spread a little magic for our four-legged friends this Christmas time.”
