Stratfordians asked to lend a bed during Shakespeare Birthday celebrations

PEOPLE are being urged to lend a bed in April.

Some 140 delegates from towns and cities named Stratford will be visiting the town from April 20 to 26, during the Shakespeare Birthday celebrations, but some are still without anywhere to sleep during their trip.

The Stratford World UK committee – who have organised the visit – are asking Stratfordians with a spare bed to help.

A full programme of events has been planned and hosts will be invited to join some including a banquet and concert.

Chairman Tim Raistrick said: “We have been grateful to many people who have offered the bed and breakfast accommodation to our guests from Canada, US, Australia and New Zealand but we urgently need 24 single rooms to avoid a huge embarrassment.

“Many friendships have been formed from previous visits and hosts have the opportunity of going on reciprocal visits if they wish in the future.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Julie Field on [email protected] or 07980 283153 or Gilly Rushton on [email protected] or 07831 633495.
