ELIZABETH Martindale is top of the class when it comes to spotting fire hazards.
And the Stratford Prep youngster has been rewarded for taking part in the Junior Fire Safety Scheme run by Warwickshire Fire Service, which teaches children everything from how to locate potential fire hazards to how to check their family home.
The scheme also involves a talk on smoke alarms, kitchen and electrical safety and a night-time ‘turn it off’ routine.
The safety-concious pupil pupil was presented with a certificate and trophy by Community Fire Safety Officer Andy Morgan during a school assembly, along with a £25 WH Smith gift voucher after being picked out of the monthly prize draw.
Schools liaison officer, Ruth Greenhalgh said: “The aim of the Junior Fire Safety Champion Scheme is to educate young people about fire safety, electrical fire safety and how to stay safe in the home.
“By completing the assessment, Elizabeth has shown just how much the scheme can benefit young people and their families.”
