Stratford police in bid to cut bike thefts in and around town

Stratford Editorial 19th Jun, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

POLICE in Stratford are aiming to bring bike theft down to an all-time low.

After teaming up with Bike Register, The National Cycle Database and with help from Stratford District Council, they have bought a number of cycle marking kits.

The kits have a unique individual code, which registers a bike and prevents it being stolen.

Details of the registered bike are then kept on a national database so police are able to trace the owner should it be stolen and recovered throughout the country.

The first bike register event is set to take place at Stratford River Festival on July 4.
