Stratford artists to showcase skills at exhibition

ARTISTS in Stratford are preparing to show off their skills.

Stratford upon Avon Art Society is staging its Annual Exhibition at KES from August 13 to 29. Entry is free and the exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 6pm.

There will be over 800 new pieces of art, created by 172 society members, and the 57th annual exhibition will be opened by businessman Sir Peter Rigby, who is also chairman of the Stratford Cancer & Eye Hospital Appeal Fund.

Sir Peter will present a gold, silver and bronze award to his favourite submissions from the selection of oil, watercolour, and acrylic paintings, drawings, glass and ceramics.




Among the awards this year, there will also be a new one, in memory of past president James Henly who was a committed member of the society.

In addition to the work on display, many members will become ‘Artists in Residence’ offer help and advice and sharing techniques on everything from painting to pottery.


The society currently boasts some 300 members including professional and semi- professional artists, and those who simply paint for pleasure and enjoy art.

The society holds monthly lectures and demonstrations, tutored workshops, competitions, painting days and visits to major exhibitions/galleries, together with a charity exhibition in November and other social events.

All work at the annual exhibition will be for sale.
