A HAIRDRESSER duck, a builder duck and even an explorer duck are preparing to take to the Avon.
The first Shakespeare Duck Race, organised by Stratford Rotary, will be held on Saturday August 27, starting from Lucy’s Mill Weir at 2pm.
Tickets for the duck race are proving popular, with town folk and companies buying up ducks to raise money for Shakespeare Hospice’s new Children and Young People’s Services.
Members of Stratforward business improvement district have been particularly supportive of the inaugural race.
And it is not too late to get involved. Corporate Shakespeare ducks are still on sale for £30 until Monday (August 22) by at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/corporateshakespeareduckrace
All companies will get a certificate and the winning corporate duck will receive a duck trophy and their duck after the race.
Tickets for individual ducks are priced £2 and are also on sale at http://campaign.justgiving.com/charity/stratford-rotary/shakespeareduckrace and at Shakespeare Hospice shops in Stratford, Alcester, Henley and Wellesbourne.
The event is also being supported by Stratford Upon Avon Boat Club, which is providing launches to help throw the ducks into the river and catch them at the finish line.
