Shake it purple for Shakespeare Hospice

THE SHAKESPEARE Hospice is calling for people to go purple and raise money for charity.

On Friday June 24 the hospice – which is funded nearly entirely on donations – is holding a ‘Shake it Purple’ day.

It will see people wearing purple clothing, holding purple-themed bake sales or bingo evenings to raise money for the hospice.

Head of clinical services, Kate Hall, said: “The hospice receives only around seven per cent of funding from government, making it the lowest funded hospice in the whole of the UK.

“It is a fantastic cause and relies almost solely on your donations to keep delivering vital care to the local community.

“Without this support we wouldn’t be able to provide expert and specialist care to those living with a life limiting illness, whether it’s at the hospice, or in the comfort of their own home.”

Those who sign up will be given a money box to collect donations along with a number of purple-themed ideas of how to raise money.
