A BUDDING chef will have her recipe featured on hotel menus across the country.

Chloe Gardner, a commis chef at Stratford Manor, took first place in a national catering competition which will see her winning dish on the summer menu of every hotel in the QHotels group.

The 18 year-old from Barford, who also studies at Stratford College, cooked up a winning dish of grilled mackerel fillet, served with smoked paprika courgette, parmentier potato, with white bean and rocket salad and a chilli and lime salsa.

Chloe said: “I still can’t believe I won. I love being a chef, thinking up interesting menus and creating new food combinations. I know I’m still learning, so to have my dish win is amazing.

“Both Stratford Manor and the College have been really supportive throughout the whole competition, and I’d like to thank them for helping me.”

She won a professional set of cooks’ knives and a two-week internship at award-winning chef Simon Rogan’s restaurant ‘The French’ in the Midland Hotel in Manchester, where she will stay for free.
