Residents urged to have say on affordable housing development for older people

RESIDENTS are being urged to have their say on proposals for an affordable housing development for older people in Stratford.

Housing & Care 21 wants to build the new 75-home extra care development on Corelli Close in Bishopton, and is inviting townspeople to a consultation event on Monday February 1, running from 4pm to 7.30pm.

Detailed plans will be available to view at the event at Bishopton Community Centre, on Drayton Avenue, where representatives from Housing & Care 21, Warwickshire County Council and architect Glancy Nicholls will be on hand to answer any questions.

Subject to planning permission work on the scheme, which would consist of 75 self-contained two bedroom apartments with a care team on site 24 hours a day, would begin in the summer and be completed by early 2018.

Housing & Care 21 already has several extra care schemes in Warwickshire, including  Warwick and Rugby. The schemes combine independent living with care on-site and feature communal facilities like restaurants and salons which are open to the public.

Paul Crosland, construction project manager at Housing & Care 21, said: ““It is a chance for anyone in the area to have a look at the plans and give their views before final plans are put forward.”
