PRINCE Charles showed just how it should BE done at Shakespeare Live!

HRH, who is also President of the RSC, stepped into Hamlet’s shows when he took to the stage to deliver his take on ‘To be or not to be’ at the star-studded variety show at the RST.

The Prince joined a ‘Line of Hamlets’ – including the RSC’s current Dane Paapa Essiedu, Matilda composer Tim Minchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Tennant, Dame Harriet Walter, Rory Kinnear, Sir Ian McKellen, and Dame Judi Dench – for the comic sketch, which was among the highlights of the evening.

While all offered and argued over their own particular way of delivering arguably the most famous line in the canon, The Prince strode on to settle the debate, with – ‘To be or not to be – that IS the question?’

His appearance on the stage delighted the invited a packed RST and a global TV and cinema audience.

The brainchild of RSC artistic director Greg Doran, Shakespeare LIve! showed the wide-ranging influence the Bard has had, and continues to have – from ballet to jazz, opera to hip-hop.
