BOOK lovers of all ages came together at Stratford High School for World Book Day.

Sixth Formers and staff invited pupils from 12 neighbouring primary schools to compete in a day of literary challenges which included quizzes in spelling, knowledge of books, a specialist book round and word searches.

And Stratford High Headteacher, Neil Wallace shared the story of how his favourite book inspired him to become a History Teacher with the visiting pupils.

Wilmcote Primary School were declared quiz champions ahead of Claverdon, Snitterfield, Shottery, Thomas Jolyffe, St Gregorys, Bridgetown, Stratford Primary School, Wootton Wawen, The Willows, Bishopton and Alveston.

Quiz master and english teacher, Jess Ponfield said: “It was great to see 12 of our local primary schools get involved in World Book Day. It was a fantastic event and it was a delight to see so many students interested in reading at such a young age.”
