POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Stratford.

An 18-year-old man was walking along Henley Street around 7pm on Friday (January 29) with two friends when the passenger in a red Peugeot 307 asked if they had any drugs.

The victim emptied his pockets to prove he didn’t have any and was punched in the face and the two people he was with left the scene.

He suffered minor injuries but did not need medical treatment.

The two men in the car are described as being 20 years-old, white and slim and the attacker is said to be about five foot six inches tall with facial hair.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
