POLICE are appealing for information following a sexual assault in Stratford.

A woman in her 20s was walking through the alleyway leading from Holtom Street to Old Town Mews around 1pm on Friday August 19.

She was approached from behind by an unknown man – described as white, in his 20s, around 5ft 8in tall and slim with short, light brown hair and clean shaven. He was believed to have been wearing dark jeans and a light-coloured top at the time.

Det Sgt Gavin Lambert said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and she is currently receiving support from specially trained officers.

“Officers have been working to identify the person responsible for this offence as quickly as possible and I would urge anyone with information to contact us.

“Following the incident there has been a visible police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.”

Anyone with information should call Warwickshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
