New Wellesbourne medical centre could be open 'withing two years'

A NEW medical centre in Wellesbourne could be open within two years.

Last summer, housing developer Persimmon Homes was granted planning permission for 350 homes on land either side of the Ettington Road, and a new state-of-the-art doctor’s surgery in the centre of the village on Dog’s Close.

Funding support towards the £4million building from the NHS and South Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group (SWCCG) was delayed by a review at the start of the year.

But residents lobbied the government and the NHS arguing with a population of 7,000 the village’s current resources were already stretched.

It is believed an application for full planning permission for the new medical centre will be submitted to Stratford District Council within the next two months and the doctors hope to have the new building fully operational by early 2018.
