MP Nadhim Zahawi officially marked a new chapter in the history of a day centre in Stratford for people with complex needs in Stratford.
Heart of England Mencap has taken over the running of Brookbank which was previously operated by Warwickshire County Council.
The Stratford MP joined Heart of England Mencap chief executive Helena Wallis to celebrate the takeover at the Alcester Road centre and to meet those running and benefitting from the services.
“This is the start of a new chapter at Brookbank and we are committed to engaging with our staff, customers and their carers to work together on developing and improving these services,” said Helena.
“We are a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of our customers, offering the best care, supporting families and empowering individuals with disabilities to live the life they choose.
“Greater independence, improved health and well-being and social inclusion are all absolutely core values to us.”
Heart of England Mencap supports individuals with learning disabilities, working across Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
Services range from day activities to residential care, with supported living, short breaks, respite and outreach also a key part of the charity’s work.
