House of Commons stage for Stratford district students

YOUNG actors from district schools took to a very big stage this week.

They performed extracts from Shakespeare at the House of Commons s part of the celebrations marking the Bard’s 450th birthday.

The 14 members of the RSC formed ensemble, aged 12 to 21, performed at a special reception held by Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi on Tuesday (April 29), which brought together guests from Parliament, the arts and Stratford schools to celebrate Shakespeare’s life and works.

Throughout the evening – held in Speaker of the Commons John Bercow’s State apartments in Westminster Palace –




Stratford’s young people will also interpreted precious artefacts for guest from the collections of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust illustrating Shakespeare’s life.

Those taking part in the event, sponsored by town jeweller Pragnall, were from Shipston High, Studley High, Stratford College, St Benedict’s Catholic School, Stratford Girls Grammar, Stratford School and KES.
