FIREFIGHTERS battled two field fires near Loxley and Southam at the weekend.

The first fire – in a paddock at Shuckburgh Road – broke out around 3.50pm on Sunday (August 2).

The fire spread to an area approximately 100 metres by 50 metres and firefighters were on the scene for around an hour.

Then just over an hour later, crews were called to a four-acre field of stubble at Grove Hill Farm on Stratford Road in Loxley.

Four crews spent 90 minutes battling the blaze, which is believed to have been accidentally caused by a bonfire.

*CREWS were called to Lighthorne to deal with a tractor on Monday morning (August 3).

The previous day they tackled a car engine fire in Moreton Morrell.

The cause of the fires has not been reported.
