A DRIVER had a lucky escape after her car veered off the road, demolishing a lamppost and rolling onto its roof.

The accident happened around 8.30am on Tuesday on the A3400 at Wootton Wawen in Henley.

The driver – believed to be in her 50s – was trapped in the car until firefighters could open the damaged door.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Crews arrived to find a car that left the road and rolled over. It had also demolished a lamppost and come to rest on its roof on a grass verge near a hedgerow.

“The woman received treatment and reassurance at the scene as the fire service opened the door so she could get out of the vehicle.

“Following a full assessment by medics the woman was discharged and did not need to go to hospital.

“Considering the circumstances of the crash it is extremely fortunate that the woman did not suffer serious injuries.”
