District council warden urges residents to back shoebox appeal for rescued dogs

DOG lovers are being asked to help make this Christmas extra special for their four-legged friends.

Stratford District Council dog warden Lisa Parkes has organised an appeal to support dogs who find themselves in rescue centres over the festive period.

Anyone who wants to take part can fill a shoebox with doggy delights – including food, toys, treats, balls, blankets and collars – and bring it to the council’s Elizabeth House HQ during office hours until Monday (December 14).

People can also take their doggy donations to Jollyes Petfood Superstore at the Maybird Centre.

The shoeboxes will then be distributed to local rescue centres in time for Christmas.

Encouraging residents to back the appeal, Lisa said: “Please find it in your hearts to support us our extra special Canine Shoebox Appeal. Help spread a little magic to our abandoned and unwanted strays this Christmas.”
