THE CHILDREN’S play area on Stratford Recreation Ground is closed until further notice.
Heavy rainfall last week caused the River Avon to break its banks and most of the park has been underwater since then.
As a result, council chiefs have taken the decision to close the play area and they say it will remain closed until further notice to allow for clean up and disinfection.
The popular Parkrun event, which has attracted many fun runners and athletes in the two weeks since it was launched, has also been cancelled on Saturday (March 12) as a result of the inclement weather and subsequent flooding on the Rec.
Organisers posted the news on their Twitter page on Thursday (March 10) but they hope the 5K event will return next weekend.
