AGE UK Warwickshire’s Chief Executive Elizabeth Phillips has retired.
She was appointed the charity’s first chief officer in 1991 with just two part-time staff and two charity shops to the largest charity working for older people in Warwickshire. There are now 200 staff and 500 volunteers, and nine charity shops dotted throughout the county.
The charity now offers a number of services including befriending services, counselling groups, dementia support, activity clubs, gardening services and home support.
A major part of her role was developing relationships and partnerships, networking with local councils, the NHS and GPs, and funding bodies.
Her dedication saw her awarded an MBE in 2014 for services to older people in Warwickshire.
An Age UK spokesperson said: “Elizabeth is an exceptional person to work with. She understands the needs of older people and how the charity can best help them. She has presence and leadership and couples that with being compassionate and supportive.”
