PETER is a poor boy with a big imagination who dreams of adventure in The Flying Ship at The Bear Pit Theatre in Stratford later this month.

It is presented by theatre collective Popinjay Productions which is made up of young performers and artists who were also part of the “Year Out Drama Company” in Stratford in 2011.

The Flying Ship is an adaptation of a Russian folk tale, with an original script written by company member Josh Freeborn and is Popinjay’s first full-scale show – featuring a mix of live music, projection and puppets.

The Tsar of Russia wants a flying ship in exchange for his daughter’s hand in marriage.

Along with a positive attitude, a creative spirit and a little help from a magic man, Peter sets off on a quest that will change his world forever. Journey alongside him as he encounters peculiar companions, impossible tasks, a pair of miscreants and a girl who steals his heart.

Audience feedback following the London preview included “totally awesome” and “superbly written and wonderfully acted”.

The Flying Ship can be seen at The Bear Pit on Friday and Saturday July 17 and 18 at 7.30pm on both nights.
